About the role
Apply machine learning and data analytics to solve African problems. Work on healthcare diagnostics, agricultural predictions, fraud detection, and more.
Responsibilities
- Analyze complex datasets to extract actionable insights
- Build and deploy machine learning models
- Design and conduct experiments
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams
- Create data visualizations and dashboards
- Monitor model performance and retrain as needed
- Document methodologies and findings
- Stay current with latest ML research and techniques
- Mentor junior data scientists
Requirements
- 3+ years of data science experience
- Strong programming skills in Python (pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch)
- Experience with statistical analysis and A/B testing
- Proficiency in SQL and data manipulation
- Understanding of machine learning algorithms and when to apply them
- Experience deploying ML models to production
- Strong communication skills for non-technical stakeholders
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or related field (preferred)
- Experience with big data tools (Spark, Airflow) is a plus
